Surtees 575 Workmate

John Crawford Marine has just landed, this one owner since new, well optioned and upgraded plate alloy, Surtees 575 Workmate half cabin.  

Powered by a freshly serviced, 92 hour old Yamaha 115Hp EFI four stroke and trailered on a Redco Sportsman RE170-MO single axle trailer.

The 575 Workmate offers the user a quality-built alloy boat that is highly capable to fish both inshore and offshore waters. Cleverly designed by boaters and anglers that have combined class-leading performance, ease of handling, a small storage footprint, and easily handled at the boat ramp solo. 

Surtees webpage is quoted as stating “Safety comes as standard on the 575 Workmate from a smooth, non-pounding ride to incredible stability at rest - you won’t find a smarter fishing boat for the size.”

Further the Surtees design team have incorporated engineering concepts in the build to enhance the ride in choppy water and stability at rest with:

• Anti-Roll™ Stability Ballast Technology – in hull water ballast system
• Anti-Roll Lock™ Shut-off Transom Gate
• Safety Buoyancy Airtight Flotation Compartments

The original owner of this package has maintained the rig to a very high standard, further backed by the JCM workshop inspection reports and over the years enjoyed adding quality accessories as outlined in detail further below and extensively photographed.  

Delivering exceptional performance, the 115Hp was the right choice over the standard 90Hp offered delivering exceptional fuel economy and offers great range with the underfloor 100L fuel tank.

The motor was also fitted with an Seastar hydraulic steering system upgrade and with only a low 92 hours of use since new, buyers are further reassured as the Yamaha is backed with a post post-sale BIA engine warranty.

The helm is functional and fitted with an array of quality electronics including the Lowrance HDS9 colour screen fish finder/GPS, a GME VHF radio, trim tabs controls and electrical switching all under the protection of the unique folding hard top.

Anchoring is made easy as the boat was upgraded with a 12v Viper Pro Series electric drum winch and fitted to a #2 Sarca anchor. The owners touches are further evident as even the chain is housed inside a sock!

If storage height is a concern, the hard top roof system easily folds down into the cockpit and the height of the windscreen will become the height to get it under the carport/in the shed or towing down the highway.  

The cabin is fitted with upholstered cushions, that will provide the children or an adult reprieve from the sun and a place for kip between bites. A large cabin hatch will allow easy access to the bow ground tackle and offer ventilation on those hot balmy days.

The cockpit and transom area is so well thought out, from a plumbed live bait tank, well-engineered dual battery storage hold and switching, quality bait prep table with storage and inserts for knives and lures and the like, some 21 fishing rod holders throughout, soft floor rubber tube flooring… to a well-designed transom ladder.
