Powered by a the class leading V6 Mercury 200Hp EFI four stroke that features DTS (Digital Throttle Shift function) that has recorded a low 63 hours since new. The 200XL is a perfect match for the McLay 661 providing economy and efficiency backed with Mercury’s known reliability and on tap power. Spinning a stainless steel propeller and steering is made light by the Maxtech hydraulic steering.
Range is assured with the underfloor 220l fuel tank with the Mercury burning approx. 1l of fuel to 1.5k’s at a comfortable cruise speed of 25knots (load/current and trim variables).
The helm is “boat art”, with an array of quality electronics all very neatly and professionally installed. The Garmin Echomap Plus 105sv GPS/Sounder is a 10.5” touch screen unit, a GME VHF radio is installed for on water communications and with the press of a button the Savwinch electric drum winch comes to life, balancing the lateral trim is a breeze with the factory fitted Zipwake 300S system.
Seating is provided by way of two comfortable driver and passenger bolstered helm chairs with high backs, a reverse dickie seat and the ¾ width transom fold down bench seat. Under the skippers and passenger chair are dual draw fridge’s neatly installed to fit and out of the way of the cockpit.
Overhead the hardtop provides genuine protection from the wind and spray and McLay have well engineered the roof with grab rails, mounting plates, cabin roof underside lining and sliding windows for ventilation.
Offshore the McLay hull comes through with a fine entry and the strength of a 6mm plate hull and 4mm side plate construction.
The cockpit is the heart of this boat and with clever design, offers class leading deep internal freeboard, huge side pockets for storage, soft floor foam flooring, room for a large esky and cockpit lighting. The transom has fitted a quality bait board with rod holders, tackle storage trays throughout and on the port walk through a large plumbed live bait tank is installed.
For those that like their overnighting or young ones that require a kip during the day, the cabin is light and airy, more storage under the bunks and in the side pockets. Bunk infills are included making the cabin one large, upholstered area along with a chemical toilet.
Other features and accessories include:
Trailering
The rig is trailered on a quality, EZI Alloy Trailers trailer manufactured in May 2025 that cradles the hull. The trailer was customised to allow convenience and ease to solo launch and retrieve at a busy boat ramp.
Upgraded with a custom-made bow access ladder mounted on the drawbar, L-n-R Boat catch latch system, alloy dress rims and a matching spare wheel. Further fitted with keel rollers and slides to ensure the boat centres perfectly each and every time when retrieving.
Collecting the boat myself and towing some 150k’s behind a new generation Toyota Prado, I can attest the package is a pleasure to tow!
Run, don’t walk to JCM as this will not last at $159,995 tow away!
