About the Boat

“Ocarina” is a Cole 23 Mark 1 manufactured by North Shore Fiberglass whom started building the Cole 23 in 1976. “Ocarina” we believe is a 1977/1978 build. For the past 20 years she has had the one owner in Central Queensland that have lovingly maintained her and stored her undercover. “Ocarina” has provided the family many unique experiences that many of us would never get the opportunity to explore around many of the reefs and islands in this area.

As a keen diver, the owner fabricated a stern platform to allow him to suit up and a place for the children to wet their feet out of the cockpit. A man of many talents, he has also made the cockpit dining table as pictured the afternoon drinks and card games that would go well into the night under the stars.. (am I painting the picture?)

Throughout the boat are numerous personal touches that this family have done to ensure the boat is practicable for its intended purpose of sailing the remoter areas and being comfortable aboard for than a night. The built in esky was upgraded to a refrigeration system, the water tank holds approx 60L of freshwater, additional power points added, and a dual battery system is wired up – please note batteries are not listed or nor included)

Her sail wardrobe has been upgraded with a very good condition Main Sail and Jib and she still has the original main / spinnaker and jib in workable condition.  When at anchor and the main is dropped, the boom tent can be easily set up to offer some reprieve from the elements.

Accessories and features are numerous, and we have tried to list some of them as follows:

On the Trailer

She is trailered on the original Manta tandem axle trailer that features galvanized C channel which is probably why it has lasted so many years and presents in the condition it’s in. The trailer has mechanical over ride disc brakes and the boat is towed empty, with the outboard in the boot of the 4WD to keep her weight in check and she was towed down from Rocky on 4 new light truck tyres.
